Where to taste typical Paraguayan Food in Asunción
The best way to know a country is through its cuisine. This statement is shared by the majority of people who enjoy traveling and discovering new destinations. That is why we pay honours whenever we come to a new city or country.
Those who visit the Esplendor Asunción, located in Av. Aviadores del Chaco 2822, will have lot of options. There are Argentine cuisine, Asian cuisine, cocktails, international food and of course paraguayan cousine.
My recommendation to taste Paraguayan cuisine is to visit the local Ja-Vira in the Food Court of the Shopping del Sol located in Av. Aviadores del Chaco esq. Professor Delia Gonzalez, just 2 minutes by car and 14-minute walk from the Esplendor.

Ja-Virá offers a tour of the Paraguayan culture through their dishes. There we find the dishes that every tourist should taste to learn more about the Paraguay but in the comfort of a shopping center and at an affordable price. Pastel Mandió is similar to a pie whose dough is made with corn flour and mashed cassava with meat filling. While the visual appearance is similar to an Argentinian empanada the texture and taste differ but are still appealing.
Soup of surubí, a magical finding. It is a good thick soup, with pieces of fish that squanders flavor and is able to seduce even the most skeptical. For this soup there isn´t winter or summer. It is available year-round and it is always welcome.
