Horseback riding in El Calafate

El Calafate is located close to the Cordillera of the Andes and it is considered the most important tourist city of Patagonia, with a population estimated at 20 thousand inhabitants. Horseriding Towards Chilean Border

Departing from the Estancia Lake Rock we will cross the Rico River which flows into the Rico arm of Lake Argentino, we will cross valleys, ford streams and meadows to reach the “Puesto La Rosada” which is located 500 meters from the landmark border. We will overnight camping in this place and will return the next day, riding up the mountain to see the Paine Massif and South Arm of Lake Argentino. We will interpret flora, fauna, geology, geography and so on.

Daily Horseriding in Lake Rock

The ride in Lake Rock is a full-day excursion and it is performed in the south of Los Glaciares National Park.

We will pick you up at 09:00 Am in hotel Esplendor El Calafate and will head towards the Lake Rock on Route Nº 15 about 42 km from El Calafate. We will leave the steppe zone to reach the intermediate zone.

Ater reaching the estancia, we will saddled the horses and head to the Andes, interpreting flora and fauna. We will ride one hour to the main viewpoint where we expect the view of the Perito Moreno glacier, Lake Rock, Cerro Moreno, South Branch, Cerro Frias, Magallanes Peninsula, Camiseta River Valley. Then, after one hour and a half ride to the camp on the banks of Rico River we will have lunch with grilled steaks with wine, juice or water.

After a good break of two and a half hours, we will ride back one more hour to the estancia, and will return to the city around 18 Pm.

Horseback riding in El Calafate: Short and long term

Horseback riding in Patagonia

This tour has two modes: a horseback ride short-(2 hours) and a long (5 hours). In the first its walks through “Redonda Bay” area, along the coast of Lake Argentino where there are Patagonian birds as flamingos, neck black swans, loicas, et,  the city and the surrounding hills.

In the long horseback riding there is a walk along the coast of Lake Argentino in a westerly direction from El Calafate and will have lunch at the shore of the Lake with a beautiful panoramic view from the surrounding hills.

Horseback riding Santa Patagonia

Performed at the estancia Santa Teresita, located 147 km from El Calafate on the shore of the Viedma Lake. It has a privileged view of the Cerro Fitz Roy, Cerro Torre and Viedma Glacier next to the incredible Patagonian steppe. It is one of the few farms still working with sheep production. There is horseback riding of 2-5 hours and a long term of two days and one night. Meals are included.

Horseback riding Mitre River

This company offers horseback riding for 2 hours, until walks of whole day with lunch, as well as cruises of several days in the Valley of the Rico Lake where it is ideal for bird watching by the large number of species that exist. It has quiet horses for those who do not have experience, and tame but spirited horses for experts.
