BAFICI 2017: The Buenos Aires International Festival of Independent Film

The Buenos Aires International Festival of Independent Film is a 11-day movie extravaganza showing some of the world’s best independent cinema in theaters across the city. Known by its Spanish acronym, BAFICI, the festival is now its 19th year. It has already started selling tickets for the BAFICI 2017 which will take place between April 19 – 30. The programming of the 19th edition includes 400 films, from the 5 continents and 56 countries, to be screened in 32 spaces in the city, arriving with one of the open air cinemas in France Square and several new neighborhoods. BAFICI 2017: The Buenos Aires International Festival of Independent Film

BAFICI 2017 brings together directors emerging on the national scene with others of all parts of the world. In this Edition, will involve the Italian Nanni Moretti, American Alex Ross Perry, the Swiss Claude Barras, the Swedish Johaness Nyholm, the Canadian Denis Côte, among others.

In addition to lectures and the projection of short films and documentaries there will be competitions of films in several categories.

TIPS

  • The lectures in the Auditorium the Aleph and the small theater of the Recoleta Cultural Center and outdoor projections are free by order of arrival and are subject to the capacity of each space.
  • Plan well and buy online to get tickets to the films you want to see.
  • Don’t show up late for screenings: despite the fact that this is Argentina where lateness is not too taboo, latecomers are turned away.
